500 YEARS Roman Catholic based on Matthew 28:19

An Abstract

500 YEARS ROMAN CATHOLIC is based on Matthew 28:19 – “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” This Jesus-commanded prophetic role and Apostolic Mission reached the Philippine shores 1,500 years later through the pioneers (1500s): Lay Catholics Magellan, Enrique, Legazpi, and Fray Urdaneta. This prophetic function led to the First Holy Mass in Limasawa, the first catechism among the natives, and the Baptism of the Rajah Humabon, Hara Humamay, and subjects. This prophetic function (Matthew 28:19) also led to the sending of the first Manila Bishop, when, in 1579, Manila was made a suffragan of Mexico. In 1601, Catholics officially became the supermajority in the Philippines.
